Battle Of Birdy’s: Week 5

It’s about 8:30 p.m. on a rather cool night in Indianapolis, and as I step through the doors, all’s quiet on the Northern front. The few in attendance have taken their seats at some of the tables towards the back of the room, conversing amongst their friends and enjoying their drinks, while act #1 finishes last-second preparations. Not too long after, we’re all welcomed and it’s time to get this show on the road.

Concert Review: Mum’s The Word

Mumford & Sons @ Klipsch Music Center in Indianapolis — The British are coming, and for the people of Indiana, we wouldn’t have it any other way. On this Labor Day, Mumford and Sons came to Klipsch Music Center as part of their latest U.S. tour. Of course, they didn’t come here alone. They also brought along the likes of The Vaccines and Bear’s Den.

WARMfest Day 2: Take 2

WARMfest @ Broad Ripple Park in Indianapolis — Okay, so Day 1 was a literal wash, and despite my disappointment, it was ultimately their call to make, and in the end, I believe they did make the right one. Now it’s a new day, the slate is clean, and I’m determined to make this WARMfest experience something to remember (for better, not for worse).

WARMfest Day 1: WETfest

WARMfest @ Broad Ripple Park in Indianapolis — For the first time ever, Indianapolis played host to the White River Arts and Music Festival – or “WARMfest,” where artists on both the local and national levels would congregate to Broad Ripple Park for a celebration of all things, well, art and music.

Concert Review: Rock Revival Rivals

Rival Sons @ Deluxe at Old National Centre in Indianapolis — Listening to conversations of patrons as they left the venue, it was clear that Rival Sons is capable of keeping old school rock fans very happy and they are in a perfect place to educate a whole new generation on a sound that we hear far too little of in new music.

Concert Review: UPROAR In Chains

Alice In Chains @ UPROAR Festival / Klipsch Music Center — Indianapolis on August 23rd, 2013 Of all the bands that played at Rockstar Uproar Festival, headlining band Alice In Chains by far brought the biggest crowd. The already large crowd nearly doubled in size when William DuVall and the …

Concert Review: Addicted To Jane At UPROAR

Jane’s Addiction @ UPROAR Festival / Klipsch Music Center — Indianapolis on August 23rd, 2013 Trailing after Coheed and Cambria’s performance, Jane’s Addiction took to the stage as Pink Floyd’s “Welcome to the Machine” played overhead. Members of the audience stood to enjoy the show as the band started off …

Concert Review: Coheed, Cambria, UPROAR.

Coheed And Cambria @ UPROAR Festival / Klipsch Music Center — Indianapolis on August 23rd, 2013 The crowd miraculously built up any enthusiasm they had been saving from Circa Survive’s performance as Coheed and Cambria’s atmospheric track “The Ring In Return” preluded the band’s entrance. A resounding chant of “Coheed! …

Concert Review: Did Circa Survive The UPROAR?

Circa Survive @ UPROAR Festival / Klipsch Music Center — Indianapolis on August 23rd, 2013 After an awkward beauty pageant that was presumably meant to hype up the crowd for the show (a failed attempt), Circa Survive walked out onto the main stage to start the night. Once the members …

Concert Review: Yes Please

Yes @ The Murat Theatre in Indianapolis — The theatre itself is also starting to fill out, with many already seated and the rest trying to find their seats before the show begins. Before too long, the lights go out, and we’re treated to a brief video package set to an excerpt from Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite” that highlight the three albums that we would all hear this evening. The band greets the crowd, and we’re underway.
