State Fair Coliseum - 07/31/14
Lynyrd Skynyrd
The Godfathers of Southern Rock have been around the block in their near-half century of stardom. Their career has been studded with brilliant highs. such as an induction into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall Of Fame, all the way to devastating lows, notably the loss of four band members in a plane crash. But in the end it’s about the music, and with ultra mega-hits like “Sweet Home Alabama” and “Freebird”, you know they’ve got that in spades.
This particular show was also notable in local lore as being the very first concert in the newly renovated Indiana State Fair Coliseum, the night before opening day. They follow in the footsteps of major musical acts to have performed on those hallowed grounds, including The Beatles, who played there in 1964.
