Yes @ The Murat Theatre in Indianapolis — The theatre itself is also starting to fill out, with many already seated and the rest trying to find their seats before the show begins. Before too long, the lights go out, and we’re treated to a brief video package set to an excerpt from Stravinsky’s “Firebird Suite” that highlight the three albums that we would all hear this evening. The band greets the crowd, and we’re underway.
...and as the sun retreated behind the clouds and created a beautiful sunset on the lawn, the stage went black and drums rumbled the earth...

3 Doors Down & Daughtry @ The Lawn at White River State Park in Indianapolis — We kicked off August with weather that had finally eased up for the night of the concert. It was a vast difference from the previous days and nights of 100+ degree temps. Hundreds upon hundreds of people were storming the ticket lines, waiting in anticipation for this night of perfect weather and music.
...Eclectic it is... Sure, there’s a contingency of rock... but you also have the occasional hip-hop act, a folk band, or even... a bare-bones, stripped down, acoustic solo artist...

Over the course of the next 13 weeks, nearly 60 bands will take to the stage to compete for a variety of prizes… [from] $5000 in spending chase to a 2-song EP… and so much more…
...although it seemed to take Ann the length of the lofty song to wind up that powerhouse voice of hers, she found her bearings and left us, seemingly, listening to a recording in our living rooms...
Heart @ Klipsch Music Center in Noblesville — The weather was a bit dreary as excited concertgoers headed to their upgraded seats at Klipsch Music Center. The slight drizzle didn’t seem to dampen anyone’s mood, knowing that they were about to see an overwhelming amount of talent. There was a slight buzz in the air…
A quick spin-around made it clear that the crowd had doubled, if not tripled in size since [the openers], and from the moment O.A.R. began playing every single person on the lawn was dancing.
O.A.R. @ The Lawn at White River State Park in Indianapolis — The entire set was reminiscent of the 311 and Pepper show that graced White River’s lawn in the summer of 2011. One of the highlights of the night was during “That Was A Crazy Game Of Poker,” when the sky turned from a muted blue to a stark white; nearly every member of the audience had been handed a deck of playing cards, all of which were launched into the air at the chorus of the song.
For the blow-out-near-twenty-minute climax security disappeared and the crowd rushed the stage, creating as intimate of an atmosphere as can be had at an outdoor venue.

Peter Frampton & Robert Cray @ The Lawn at White River State Park in Indianapolis — Frampton played favorites, such as “Baby, I Love Your Way” and “(I’ll Give You) Money, the latter of which was highlighted by a brilliant guitar solo by his young-gun second guitar player Adam Lester. Peter Frampton got all the credit until this moment we saw what his second-in-command was packing.
This is one of this author’s personal favorite tracks, and it occurred just as the sun slipped behind the horizon and the stage was thrown into a wash of dim UV and blue lighting.

Florence & The Machine @ The Lawn at White River State Park in Indianapolis — As the time approached for Florence and her machine to make their entrance, the golden hour light of sunset fell perfectly behind the stage providing a bold, heavenly glow to the band as they took their places. The sweet beginning notes of “Only If For A Night” fell on the crowd’s ears as Florence came into view. The static excitement erupted from the crowd and set the ball rolling for what would indeed be a night to remember…
